Profile
The Department of Chemistry was established in the year 1966 and upgraded as a Post Graduate Department with a major objective of promoting Undergraduate and Post Graduate studies in Chemistry in rural backward areas of Northern Districts of Kerala. The Department was recognized as a research centre by the University of Calicut in 2017. Now, the Department offers BSc Chemistry, MSc Chemistry and Ph. D. programmes. It is enriched with Smart class rooms, a department library as well as laboratories for UG, PG and Research.
Among the nine faculty members, five of them are PhD holders and others are pursuing PhD. Also, four faculty members in the Department are recognised as research guides under University of Calicut.
The Department organizes several academic programmes for the overall development of students. The students participate and win in different intercollegiate quiz competitions. Apart from this, the students of the Department achieve excellent results and secure high ranks in their University Examinations. Also, students get admissions in various prestigious institutions for their higher studies.
