Government College Madappally was started in the year 1958 and shifted to the present building in the year 1963.Since then Department of Physical Education has played a lead role in promoting excellence in sporst Our Physical Education Department is a source of constant inspiration and leadership for a number of men and women athletes and players. As a part of reviving sports many initiatives are being undertaken by the department like ‘COME LET’S PLAY’ to attract all the students of our college to our grounds for intramural competitions. We provide Yoga, Aerobics and fitness training in gymnasium for our students and staff to improve the health and fitness. Department also conduct specialized coaching camps for Athletics ,Volleyball, Softball, Baseball, Football ,Cricket, Basketball and Kalarippayattu for boys and girls .Our students are participating and excelling in these events at University ,State and National tournaments. Moreover we were the Champions in the Kalarippayattu team championship for men at the Inter-Zone level and also bagged medals in Karate , Wushu and Judo.
PHYSICAL EDUCATION DEPARTMENT LIBRARY
It is our uniqueness and proud possession that we are having a department reference library with more than 150 books of International and National authors and publishers.
GYMNASIUM AND YOGAHALL
We are having a good gymnasium with weight training and gymnastics equipments purchased with the grant received from University Grants Commission and Plan fund from DC.A hall equipped with enough number of yoga mats for practicing yoga.
